Giving holiday gifts that mean something

Sarah Gibson talks about how to give gifts that mean something.

My morning started with an amazingly kind email from a client saying, “…it is not a secret both at work and in my family that for me your name is linked to a positive turning point and basically your name is connected with joy.” What a delightful gift it was to open this message on this cold, wintery morning.

As I thought about this note, I realized, we have much to give to others in the form of encouragement. Often the holiday season stresses us out and we wonder about the perfect holiday gift for our co-workers and our family, but one of the easiest, free gifts we can give is a word of encouragement and life to fuel that person forward into the new year.

Today, I’m encouraged by all of you. Without your encouragement through formal and informal means, I’d be doing something else with my life. I wouldn’t have the courage to move forward during the tough times, and I wouldn’t have your perspective to keep inspiring me.

Thank you for your encouragement. May you continue to bless others this holiday season through your gifts of encouragement.
